Dinner at Grandmas

We all went to Grandmas for dinner so we could be together. I love this picture I got of the kids looking at books with their Grandma.

 Oh, so sweet smile!
 Shes always reaching for me.

The life of Curtis Sr

The Passing of our Beloved Father and Grandfather

Curtis Daniel Walker Sr., age 58 of Alpine, passed away Wednesday January 11, 2012. He was born January 30, 1953 in Winnebago, Nebraska to Eugene Parker and Eunice Walker Sherman. He was a member of the Omaha tribe in Macy, Nebraska. Curtis met Maxine Hamana while attending BYU. They were married July 1, 1972 and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on July 1, 1981. They were best friends and loved each other dearly. They both had a love of their Native American culture and spent many hours singing with their family drum group at powwows. In 2006 his heart was broken when his beloved wife died of cancer. In 2007 he was blessed when Penny Wheeler brought joy back into his life. They were married August 17, 2007 and truly enjoyed the time they got to spend together, though it was cut short. They loved each other very deeply. They also shared the love of singing at powwows. Curtis was the life of every party, always smiling and  happy and trying to make everyone else happy, which naturally happened just by being around him. Curtis was always making jokes, and laughing at his own jokes with Penny laughing really hard right along with him. He was a very fun grandfather, who spent time with his grandchildren playing and teaching. Curtis loved his family and worked hard to support them and anyone that would come to him for help. He would never turn anyone away. He knew that life was all about family not possessions. Curtis valued the knowledge that his family could be together forever. He was a man of strength, love, honor, and faith, and was a wonderful example of how to live a life of charity and how to endure to the end. Curtis was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.

We were and are still in shock that our wonderful Curtis Sr has passed away. We miss him so very much! Life just isn't the same with out his fun personality and his silly humor. My heart just aches for Penny. He was the love of her life. The thing that gives us so much comfort is the fact that he is reunited with his first wife, Maxine, our wonderful mother whom we miss so much. And knowing that we can be reunited with them some day gives us so much joy and comfort.
